|Workshops
Each workshop takes place on the first Wednesday of the month from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM (CET). Every session explores a new creative subject and helps you develop your watercolour sketchbook practice.
Wednesday, 2 September | Monochrome Magic
Discover how much you can create using just one colour. In this workshop, Lucas will show you how to work with a monochrome palette through a series of practical exercises. Explore values, layering, textures and shading while discovering the expressive possibilities of a single colour.
Wednesday, 7 October | Light & Shadow
This workshop explores how to use light, shadow and value to create volume and dimension in watercolour. Participants will work with a single dark colour and learn how light and shadow can transform a drawing, creating depth and making a face appear or disappear.
Wednesday, 4 November | Space (and collisions)
As the name suggests, this next class will be all about Space (and Collisions).
In this workshop, I’ll show you how to incorporate color mixing into your drawings. Using just three colors as your personal color spectrum, we’ll explore how to create subtle shades and keep your palette harmonious from one painting to the next. We’ll also experiment with abstract painting to loosen up your hand and let the magic happen.
For this session, please bring three colors:
- A red (or a pink, purple, or orange)
- A blue (or a turquoise, green, or bluish purple)
- A yellow (or an orange, raw sienna, or lime green)
As in the previous workshop, a medium-sized, all-purpose synthetic brush is really all you need. If you’d like to take it a step further (which is a great way to improve!), bring a stiff hog-bristle brush and a round brush for holding more water. Please also bring a white plate or a mixing palette for blending colors.
